IBM TO PARTNER AGAIN WITH RED CROSS ON 2009 IBM UPTOWN
CLASSIC
10th Anniversary of Distance Challenge Series Race Promises
to Be Great Event
AUSTIN, TEXAS April 2, 2009 - IBM has made a
decision for the upcoming 2009 IBM Uptown Classic, kicking off the 10th
anniversary of the first race in the Distance Challenge with surprising
news.
Each year, IBM chooses a worthy nonprofit organization as beneficiary
for the proceeds from the race. The 2008 beneficiary was the American
Red Cross of Central Texas. "We were delighted to have been chosen
as IBM's partner. Race day was absolutely terrific, with over 250 Red
Cross and IBM volunteers and over 2,500 racers covering the IBM
campus," said CEO Derrick Chubbs."We were especially happy to
have our supporters involved in something fun, coming so soon after
Hurricanes Ike and Gustav."
This year, IBM has chosen the American Red Cross of Central Texas for a
2nd year in a row as the beneficiary. Both teams are excited for the
opportunity to work together again and make the 10th anniversary of the
race the best ever.
The 2009 IBM Uptown Classic will take place on Sunday, October 18, 2009
on the IBM campus on Burnet Road. The latest race news can be found at http://www.uptownclassic.com/cms/

AMERICAN RED CROSS OF CENTRAL TEXAS
JOINS AMERICA'S CHARITIES
Each year, Americans give millions of dollars to charities
by participating in workplace giving campaigns. The American Red Cross
of Central Texas is proud to now be a part of America's Charities, a
leader in workplace giving with more than $400 million delivered to
over 4,000 charities since its inception in 1980. As part of America's
Charities, we can reach out to thousands of people in Central
Texas to build awareness and directly increase our ability to continue
our direct services in disaster response and preparedness, service
to the armed forces, volunteer training and deployment and education
and training in lifesaving skills. Many local employers such as Dell
will match their employees' gifts - making an even bigger impact. We'll
keep you posted on how you can get involved!
