Dear
Friends,
Are you looking forward to summer? We are!
Of course, our temperature already indicates that summer is here,
but we might not feel it until all schools are let out and our
summer activities are in full swing.
Speaking of "swing," we've got a killer
deal on a range ball card from Golfsmith. Check out the huge discount
at the bottom of this newsletter.
It's almost
time for CPR/AED Awareness week, so don't get left behind. Get
certified today with one of our classes spotlighted below. Of course,
we've got many other kinds of courses, so go online for the full
list.
Read on to learn more about some volunteer activities, some
new leadership and saying goodbye to an old friend moving on to a new
chapter in her life.
And many of us may be facing new chapters and thinking about
planning for our families' futures. We've got some info to help you
plan.
As always,
there are plenty of ways to get involved!

3M VOLUNTEER MATCH
The 3M Foundation has donated funds to the American Red Cross of Central
Texas in recognition of a 3M employee's commitment to the communication
and for their outstanding service.
The 3M volunteer, who wishes to remain anonymous, has donated more than
25 hours of volunteer time to the American Red Cross of Central Texas.
"3m employees and retirees donate many thousands of hours to their
communities each year," said Alex Cirillo, vice-president, 3M
Community Affairs. "We are please to recognize and support their
commitment to helping others."
As part of the 3M volunteer Match, the 3M Foundation will donate $200
to eligible nonprofit organizations for which a 3M employee and/or
retiree volunteers 25 hours or more per calendar year. Beginning in
2009, the match increases to $250. For more information on this
program, please contact 3M Community Affairs at 651-733-0144.
3M Community Giving consists of product donations and cash grants by 3M
and the 3M Foundation and bolstered by employee and retiree
volunteerism. Since 2000, Volunteer Matches totaling over $2.6 million
have gone to over 2,400 schools or nonprofit organizations in 50 states
plus the District of Columbia.
Discuss with your employer whether they offer a similar match.

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
As you make the essential step to plan for the security of your loved
ones and direct the future of your funds by beginning estate planning
and creating or updating your will, you might also consider naming a
charity or charities like the American Red Cross of Central Texas, so
that your resources can continue to help others, while providing you an
estate tax deduction.
The American Red Cross of Central Texas is always pleased to learn of
such gifts. To advise of such a gift and/or to discuss this or other
planned gift opportunities, please contact:
